Beasty Baby tours with a cast of 3 and 1 stage manager. For certain venues the Production Manager will also attend. The production is part of our current repertoire. It is not available for one off performances but can be available for Christmas runs or as part of a longer tour. For further information click here.
Beasty Baby spent Christmas 2019 in Liverpool at the Unity Theatre.
Deep in the forest, in a wintry land, lives a gorgeously grizzly Beasty Baby. Mayhem and laughter await around every corner as three people embark on a wild adventure to bring up this very mischievous and totally loveable child.
Using an inspired mix of puppetry and live music, Theatre-Rites creates a funny and magical shared experience for the whole family, to warm up those cold winter days.
Beasty Baby was originally a co-production with Polka Theatre and has previously toured to Tobacco Factory Theatres in Bristol and Lakeside Nottingham.
2019 Cast
Emily Windham is a London-based actress and musician. She trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on the BA Acting course, specializing in collaborative and devised theatre and graduated in 2018.
She has spent the past year touring Europe with the English Theatre Company and performing in a new adaptation of Tess of the D’Urbervilles (Ondervinden Theatre Company).
As a musician, Emily specializes in jazz singing, piano and musical arrangement.

This is Teele’s third year of babysitting (performing in!) Beasty Baby.
Teele is a London based actress/puppeteer from Estonia. Her credits include Thing Mislaid (Maison Foo), The Hit (Strangeface), Beegu (Dotted Line Theatre), The Man Who Wasn’t There (Genius Sweatshop) and Gala (Tête à Tête company).
She has been involved in several short films, music videos and theatre projects as a deviser, puppet maker and an assistant director.

Elliot Liburd is returning to perform in Beasty Baby for a second year.

Elliot is Co-Founder of Fools Rush In Theatre company and recently debuted his first piece "A Murder Most Foley" with a run at the Pleasance Theatre London.

Scott trained at Rose Bruford, graduating in 2016.
Theatre credits include: A Christmas Carol (Middle Temple Hall); Beasty Baby (Theatre Rites UK Tour); The Comedy of Errors (Gray’s Inn Hall/French tour); Run (Theatre Ad Infinitum); Hot Blades Harry/Old Man Strong/Musical Director in Urinetown (Stratford Circus); A State of Mind (Etcetera Theatre); Ophelia in Hamlet and Kreon in Thebans (Rose Bruford).
Scott also writes for the musical outfit Scotch Club, who are releasing their second album in early 2019.

Sian is a puppeteer specializing in wooden marionettes. She is the Creative Director of Mirth and Misery and their current show Death Puppet Klezma Jam has toured the UK and appeared in ‘Suspense Puppetry Festival’ in 2015.

John trained in physical theatre at East 15, graduating in 2013. His credits include clowning at the Pohang Bada International Festival in South Korea, The National Theatres UK, Ireland and South Africa Tour of War Horse & most recently Les Enfants Terribles’ Alice's Adventures Underground.

John is a UK-based Zimbabwean actor, singer and mbira sound designer. He trained at Chicken Shed and has performed in the UK and internationally.
In Zimbabwe he ran free performance workshops for disadvantaged young people culminating in various short productions.
Co-Director/Writer, is Artistic Director at Theatre-Rites. As a director, puppetry specialist and teacher she has worked with a variety of companies including the National Theatre, RSC, Young Vic, Sadler's Wells, Complicité and Akram Khan. Sue has directed 11 site-specific and 12 theatre production for Theatre-Rites. In 2018, Sue was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Essex University for her outstanding contribution to theatre.
Elgiva is Associate Director with Theatre-Rites and Punchdrunk, Artistic Director of her own company Oblique House and Co-Founder and Co-Director of creative studio We Are Here. With Theatre-Rites she has worked on Paradise, Bank On It, Recycled Rubbish, Beasty Baby and Tangled Tale (working title).
Jessica composes music for theatre, film, VR and TV. Theatre includes Rubbish (Southbank Centre), The Tempest (Barbican), Sexing the Cherry and Waiting (Southbank Centre). Recent TV scores include Sky One's The Queen And I and BAFTA-winning BBC One drama-documentary Suffragettes. Jessica's work in virtual reality includes scoring multi award-winning VR experience Hold The World with Sir David Attenborough.
Verity's recent credits include: Victoria: A Royal Childhood (Historic Royal Palaces); Muckers (Caroline Horton & The Egg); Big Up (Theatre-Rites & 20 Stories High); Don't Forget The Birds (Open Clasp); Polstead (Eastern Angles); How To Win Against History (Young Vic & Aine Flanagan); Baby Show, Seesaw, Laika, Septimus Bean, Dora (Unicorn Theatre); Chocolate Cake, The Borrowers, Under The Rainbow (Polka Theatre).
Naomi is a designer and maker based in London. She studied Technical Effects for Performance at University of the Arts London. Theatre includes: The Flying Bath (Little Angel Theatre), The Trench and The Terrible Infants (Les Enfants Terribles), The Welcoming Party and Siyanda, Protector of Plants (Theatre-Rites), Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs 2: The Magic Cutlass (Les Petits), Melody Loses Her Mojo (20 Stories High)
Chris Randall is Technical and Production Manager at Southwark Playhouse, and was Technical Manager at Polka where he created lighting designs for numerous shows including Shake Rattle and Roll, Chester Tuffnut, Peter Pan (2015 Offie winner, Best Production for Under 8s), Grandad, Me and Teddy Too, Gorilla and Lullaby, Whilst at York Theatre Royal, he lit shows for companies including: tutti frutti, Pilot Theatre, York Light Opera Company and York Opera.
Beasty Baby is travelling once again, with a new home at Unity Theatre in Liverpool this Christmas
We are delighted to return to Unity Theatre with Beasty Baby as their Christmas show! We had a fantastic residency with Unity Theatre for Big Up! alongside 20 Stories High, and look forward to seeing some familiar faces in the audience.
Its fourth tour after Polka Theatre (original co-producers), Lakeside Nottingham and Tobacco Factory Theatres in Bristol, Beasty Baby can’t wait to spread joy and warm cosy feelings this festive season.
