Judith Skupien, born in Offenbach am Main, completed her bachelor’s degree in “Theater and Media” at the University of Bayreuth. In Berlin she played violin in various bands and collaborations, with music genres ranging from pop, electronic, hip hop to traditional Senegalese music and in an orchestra for the music of Oum Kalthoum. She assisted and sat in on directors such as Jürgen Kruse, Herbert Fritsch and Lies Pauwels. Since the 2017/2018 season she has been a permanent assistant director at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. There she staged The Little Mermaid (2018), The Dream Eater (video installation, 2018), Bochum Investigations (in collaboration with Johan Simons, 2019), Aufbruch 1919: 100 Jahre Symphoniker, Playhouse and City History Museum (2019, Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr), Waves of the Sea and Love (2019, scenic reading) and Kaos on the Farm (Young Playhouse, 2020).
